Overview
The Senior EC&I Engineer will be integral to a leading organization in the Nuclear sector, focusing on a technically complex and strategically important project. This role, which comes with a 12-month minimum contract outside IR35, involves collaborating with engineering managers, internal specialists, and subcontractors to produce and oversee electrical, control, and instrumentation designs that meet high safety and operational standards. Responsibilities
- Produce CE&I design concepts including SLDs, BCDs, cable schedules and layout drawings.
- Develop designs that conform to relevant British and European standards and client requirements.
- Produce and maintain LTQR / Technical Files in accordance with Quality Management Systems.
- Ensure designs address operability, maintainability, and safety considerations.
- Deliver designs in line with agreed project programmes and budgets.
- Develop functional safety and controls documentation including FDS, SIDD, and Functional Safety Plans.
- Manage subcontract suppliers and attend commissioning activities as needed.
- Author engineering reports, including the basis of design and substantiation reports.
Requirements
- Relevant Engineering Degree, HNC, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Broad-based engineering experience in design and manufacturing.
- Experience in designing electrical systems and low voltage control gear.
- Proficiency in control systems and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of CE marking requirements and machine safety directives.
- Experience in Functional Safety (BS EN 61508 & 61511) is an advantage.
- Ability to manage multiple technical deliverables in a collaborative environment.
- Commercial awareness to support tender and contract activities.
