Overview
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join an engineering team focused on clean water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the UK. This hybrid role will involve contributing mechanical engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle, from design through to construction and commissioning, and is particularly suited to engineers with significant experience in the UK water and wastewater sector.
Responsibilities
- Deliver mechanical engineering designs for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Produce and review technical specifications, calculations, drawings, schedules, and engineering reports.
- Develop mechanical equipment specifications, including pumps, pipework, valves, and treatment process equipment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams such as civil, process, electrical, and ICA engineers.
- Support design reviews, constructability assessments, and value engineering exercises.
- Ensure designs comply with client requirements, legislation, and engineering standards.
- Provide technical support throughout procurement, installation, commissioning, and project handover.
- Review supplier quotations and technical submissions and attend site visits as needed.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Proven experience in delivering mechanical engineering projects within the UK water and wastewater industry.
- Strong knowledge of treatment processes and associated mechanical equipment.
- Experience in producing engineering calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with CDM Regulations and relevant UK engineering standards.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Previous experience in a contractor or consultancy environment.
