Overview
We are seeking a Senior Python Backend Engineer for a 4-month contract role focused on designing, building, and enhancing high-performance backend services. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of experienced engineers to develop scalable REST APIs and improve existing services within a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and build production Python backend services using FastAPI.
- Develop scalable REST APIs and distributed backend systems.
- Work with event-driven architectures using Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Improve performance, reliability, and maintainability of existing services.
- Collaborate with backend engineers on architecture and code quality.
- Write clean, well-tested Python code using modern engineering practices.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience with Python development.
- Commercial experience with FastAPI or extensive modern Python API development.
- Experience designing and maintaining production REST APIs.
- Background in microservices and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with messaging technologies like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Strong SQL/database knowledge.
- Experience with Pytest and automated testing.
- Comfortable debugging and enhancing existing production code.
