Overview
We are seeking an experienced Snowflake Data Engineer for a contract role focused on enhancing data engineering capabilities within a project related to professional football and sports analytics. The contractor will collaborate with a specialist Data & AI consultancy and work closely with various stakeholders to support analytical needs while ensuring the reliability and scalability of data systems. This is primarily a hands-on data engineering assignment, emphasizing robust data infrastructure and effective management of complex datasets.
Responsibilities
- Develop and improve data infrastructure within Snowflake.
- Design, build and optimize data pipelines and transformation processes.
- Develop and maintain data models to support analytical requirements.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries.
- Ensure data quality, consistency and reliability across datasets.
- Structure and prepare data to support downstream analytics and reporting.
- Work closely with business and analytical stakeholders to understand data requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing data processes and architecture.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience with Snowflake.
- Excellent SQL development skills.
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a closely related role.
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and transformation processes.
- Strong understanding of data modeling and data architecture principles.
- Experience working with complex datasets and developing reliable data solutions.
- Ability to work independently and deliver within a short project timeframe.
- Comfortable working with stakeholders to understand and translate requirements into technical solutions.
