Overview
We are seeking a Staff Full Stack Engineer (Contract) with expertise in Rust and Java, along with experience in React and Python, to support a rapidly evolving tech platform. This fully remote role requires collaboration with product, design, and platform teams to enhance both backend services and customer-facing applications. The successful candidate will take ownership of complex technical challenges and influence architectural decisions within an experienced engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable backend services using Rust and Java.
- Build high-performance, reliable systems focusing on scalability and maintainability.
- Develop and maintain modern, customer-facing applications using React.
- Contribute to backend services, APIs, and integrations using Python.
- Take ownership of complex features from architectural design through to production delivery.
- Work closely with product, design, and platform teams for impactful functionality.
- Influence technical direction, engineering standards, and architectural decisions.
- Apply best practices regarding performance, reliability, testing, and security.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a Senior or Staff-level Full Stack / Backend Engineer.
- Strong backend engineering expertise with Rust and/or Java.
- Commercial experience developing modern frontend applications using React.
- Hands-on experience with Python in backend services and APIs.
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and scalable architecture.
- Experience designing and maintaining production-grade systems.
- Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools in engineering workflows.
- Able to communicate clearly and take ownership in a contractor capacity.
