Overview
We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer with extensive AWS expertise to support a major UK organization on a long-term contract. The role involves modernizing an existing AWS infrastructure by retiring outdated components, migrating to Terraform, and enhancing security measures. The successful candidate will work within a high-traffic environment and collaborate with a team focused on improving efficiency and reliability on the platform.
Responsibilities
- Modernize legacy AWS infrastructure by identifying and retiring unnecessary resources.
- Migrate existing infrastructure into Terraform from CloudFormation and manual configurations.
- Enhance security measures across the AWS platform.
- Implement and manage AWS services including EKS, Lambda, RDS/Postgres, and CloudFront.
- Utilize Kubernetes and Docker for container orchestration and deployment.
- Develop scripts in Python or Bash for automation and infrastructure management.
- Monitor infrastructure for reliability and performance enhancements.
- Collaborate with team members to address challenges and optimize platform solutions.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in Platform, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineering.
- Deep understanding of AWS services, particularly EKS, Lambda, RDS/Postgres, and CloudFront.
- Proficient with Terraform and previous experience migrating from CloudFormation.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD tools like CircleCI and GitHub.
- Strong scripting skills in Python or Bash for automation tasks.
- Solid understanding of infrastructure security, monitoring, and observability practices.
- Experience in high-traffic media, publishing, or consumer platforms is a plus.
