Overview
The AWS Software Engineer will be instrumental in leading the transformation of a large application estate towards a cloud-native AWS environment. Working closely with a team of AWS specialists, the contractor will design and build resilient, scalable platform services while enhancing recovery capabilities across the organization. This hands-on engineering role requires a balance between software development and cloud platform expertise, focusing on modernizing legacy applications through innovative solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop modern, cloud-native solutions in AWS.
- Collaborate with AWS specialists to enhance platform services.
- Participate in the migration of legacy applications to cloud infrastructure.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Utilize Node.js and Python for software development tasks.
- Integrate event-driven architectures with SNS and SQS.
- Contribute to improving application resilience and recovery capabilities.
- Support the overall cloud modernisation programme efforts.
Requirements
- Proven experience in AWS Platform Engineering.
- Strong programming skills in Node.js and Python.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture and services like SNS and SQS.
- Demonstrated experience in developing cloud-native solutions at scale.
- Involvement in complex transformation programmes is preferred.
- Solid software engineering background is essential.
- Understanding of resilience and recovery strategies in cloud environments.
