Overview
This role as a Back End Software Developer is designed for professionals experienced in secure software development within a collaborative technical team. The successful contractor will primarily work remotely but may be required to visit the Glasgow office for equipment collection or other specific needs, providing support and innovative solutions to enhance application performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop new features following industry best practices to ensure security and efficiency.
- Provide production support and troubleshoot application issues.
- Identify and resolve both production and non-production application defects.
- Train colleagues and share knowledge within the team.
- Identify operational improvements to maintain stable services.
- Anticipate project challenges and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with technical architects to translate architectural designs into operational functions.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience with Java 8+, and proficiency in Spring/Spring Boot frameworks.
- Experience in designing and developing RESTful microservices.
- Proficient in writing unit and integration tests.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Groovy/Gradle, and Maven.
- Experience with AWS, Docker containers, and associated tooling.
- General knowledge of good coding practices and design patterns, including microservices.
- Ability to facilitate communication between technical and non-technical teams.
