Overview
The Backend Engineer will be a key contributor to developing the foundational services for a cutting-edge intelligence platform within the defence and national security sector. Working closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team, the engineer will focus on creating secure, scalable microservices and enhancing operational workflows critical to mission success.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java-based microservices using Spring Boot.
- Build secure RESTful APIs supporting workflow, metadata, and document management.
- Design and develop scalable persistence layers using SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Contribute to cloud-native deployments, containerisation, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Implement secure coding practices, logging, monitoring, and audit capabilities.
Requirements
- Proven software development experience within defence, national security, or similarly secure environments.
- Strong commercial Java development experience with expertise in Spring Boot.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other container technologies.
- Active DV Security Clearance is mandatory for this position.
- Legally authorized to work in the United Kingdom and able to work on-site four days per week.
