Overview
We are seeking an experienced Civil & Structural Design Engineer to join a team focused on delivering critical electricity transmission infrastructure. This hybrid contract role involves taking ownership of civil and structural design packages for major substations and HVDC projects while collaborating with electrical, mechanical, procurement, and construction teams to ensure project success.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of civil and structural design packages across major substation and HVDC infrastructure projects.
- Provide design governance and review work produced by internal engineers and external design consultants.
- Develop technical scopes and Scope of Works documents for design tender packages.
- Manage design deliverables, interfaces, programme, and technical requirements.
- Support procurement and construction teams with technical input during project delivery.
- Review designs for compliance with contractual requirements and relevant regulations.
- Provide technical support during construction and attend site visits to resolve design-related issues.
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong experience in civil and structural design within a consultancy or design environment.
- Experience delivering multidisciplinary infrastructure projects, preferably in power transmission or substations.
- Proficiency in structural design software such as Tedds, STAAD.Pro, or MasterSeries.
- Strong understanding of CDM Regulations 2015 and relevant British/European design standards.
- Experience reviewing calculations and designs from other engineers or consultancies.
- Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills.
