Commissioning Engineer

Overview

We are seeking experienced Mechanical & Electrical Commissioning Engineers to join a major hyperscale data centre project. The role involves overseeing the commissioning and handover of critical infrastructure systems in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment. The successful candidates will collaborate with various teams to ensure that systems are integrated and commissioned effectively, adhering to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and oversee mechanical and electrical commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, and integrated systems testing (IST) activities.
  • Commission critical electrical systems including LV/MV distribution, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, and transformers.
  • Commission mechanical systems including HVAC, CRAH/CRAC units, and chilled water systems.
  • Review and develop commissioning procedures, test scripts, and commissioning documentation.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives to ensure successful system delivery.
  • Monitor commissioning progress and resolve system issues.
  • Prepare and maintain commissioning records, reports, and handover documentation.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical or Electrical Commissioning Engineer on related projects, particularly Data Centres or Mission Critical environments.
  • Strong understanding of commissioning processes in complex building services.
  • Mechanical engineers should have HVAC and cooling systems commissioning experience, while electrical engineers should have experience with LV/MV systems and associated infrastructure.
  • Experience with Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and project handovers.
  • Ability to review and interpret technical drawings and commissioning documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures in construction and commissioning.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Valid right to work in the UK.
