Overview
This contract role for a Content Developer focuses on enhancing structured content for a publishing company. The contractor will work remotely and be responsible for converting editorial guidelines into structured JSON as part of a pilot project aimed at creating a modular content architecture. Collaboration with team members and the ability to manage ambiguity will be crucial as the project evolves.
Responsibilities
- Convert plain text editorial guidelines into structured JSON.
- Map content fields to corresponding HTML/template structures and associated styles.
- Populate structured content from existing spreadsheets and source documents.
- Identify common and journal-specific components to support modular content structure.
- Troubleshoot mapping issues as the content structure is refined.
- Utilize scripting in Python or JavaScript to automate the content transformation process where possible.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of JSON and modular content approaches.
- Experience in converting plain text or spreadsheet sources into structured formats.
- Basic scripting ability in Python, JavaScript, or similar for automation purposes.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with ambiguity as content architecture is finalized.
- Availability for part-time work across 2-3 days per week for a duration of approximately 3 months.
