Data Architect

Overview

The Data Architect will engage in shaping the architecture for the organization's metadata landscape and work collaboratively across technical and strategic areas within data governance. This role requires substantial expertise in metadata management, enterprise data architecture, and a strong background in financial services or related industries. You will partner with engineering teams and stakeholders to design and implement effective metadata models and governance standards in a complex data environment.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the architecture for the organisation’s metadata landscape.
  • Partner with individual data domains to define and refine metadata models.
  • Define the approach to metadata creation and enrichment, leveraging automated and manual processes.
  • Shape the semantic architecture including business definitions and entity resolution.
  • Establish and maintain standards for metadata quality and governance.
  • Provide architectural direction to engineering teams and review integration designs.
  • Lead architecture reviews and facilitate stakeholder workshops.
  • Support the development of implementation plans and data-readiness requirements.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture or related fields.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ focus on metadata management and data governance.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise data catalogue platforms like DataHub or Collibra.
  • Familiarity with metadata standards such as OpenLineage.
  • Experience with integrating metadata platforms with internal data structures.
  • Proven ability to design federated metadata architectures.
  • Understanding of data governance operating models.
  • Strong consulting skills with the ability to facilitate workshops and communicate effectively.
