Data Architect

Overview

As a Data Architect, you will work remotely within a multi-disciplinary team to design and deliver a state-of-the-art data service for a large-scale organizational project in the UK Public Sector. This role requires close collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to create robust data architectures and ensure compliance with data governance practices.

Responsibilities

  • Review existing system design and data architecture; update documentation and data models as needed.
  • Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Support data engineers on ingestion tasks and build data models aligned with organizational requirements.
  • Ensure all documentation is reviewed and approved by the central data architecture team.
  • Develop Data Architecture and Governance Plans.
  • Verify data models meet functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Establish service measures and provide support for data pipeline and processes.
  • Participate in communities of practice, ceremonies, and approval forums as required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Data Architect, preferably within UK Public Sector environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure services and Databricks for dataflows and integrations.
  • Ability to design suitable Data Architecture in line with existing organizational patterns and processes.
  • Experience supporting data engineers and analysts in the development and deployment of platform infrastructure.
  • Strong documentation skills, ensuring compliance with central data platform team acceptance criteria.
  • Analytical and solution-focused mindset, with excellent stakeholder communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and drive progress in dynamic delivery environments.
  • Commitment to clean, scalable, and well-documented engineering practices.
