Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Science Lead on a contract basis to manage and transition essential predictive models into our internal team. In this delivery-focused role, you will leverage your technical expertise and leadership abilities to ensure effective model management and governance while guiding the internal team in adopting best practices in data science. You will work closely with stakeholders, implementing strategies that enhance the organization’s data capabilities primarily within a Microsoft Azure and Databricks environment.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of four predictive models, including development, validation, deployment, monitoring, documentation, and optimization.
- Lead the transfer of technical knowledge and processes from an external partner to the internal team.
- Work hands-on with data using Python and SQL to resolve issues and enhance model performance.
- Assess and implement improvements in model management, governance, explainability, and lifecycle processes.
- Ensure comprehensive documentation and monitoring of models to support sustainable ownership.
- Strengthen the organization's practices for deploying and managing machine-learning models using Azure and Databricks.
- Identify and prioritize opportunities in predictive modeling and AI to generate measurable business value.
- Advise senior stakeholders on technical findings and risks, providing actionable commercial recommendations.
Requirements
- Significant experience in data science, machine learning, and predictive modeling in senior or lead roles.
- Strong expertise in the full model lifecycle, encompassing development, deployment, validation, and monitoring.
- Proficient in Python and SQL.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks and Microsoft Azure.
- Proven success in enhancing the performance and management of existing production models.
- Experience in establishing effective model governance, monitoring, and documentation practices.
- Familiarity with regulated sectors such as financial services or insurance.
- Demonstrated ability to transfer technical knowledge from external teams to internal staff.
