Overview
We are seeking a Principal/Staff-level Mobile Engineer to lead an immediate 8-week pilot project focusing on technology transformation within a UK-based business. The successful candidate will work remotely with the existing Tech Lead to establish a modern multi-platform architecture while integrating AI-native tooling throughout the software development lifecycle. This role requires a unique blend of deep engineering expertise and commercial insight to drive significant changes in product delivery.
Responsibilities
- Define the target multi-platform architecture.
- Rebuild a valuable end-to-end customer journey.
- Utilize AI agents throughout the engineering lifecycle, ensuring human oversight.
- Ship to production in an early and incremental manner.
- Evaluate and recommend between incremental replacement or a larger rewrite.
- Enhance the overall engineering foundations as new constraints arise.
- Collaborate closely with the existing Tech Lead and transfer knowledge to the team.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Staff/Principal Engineer with a focus on mobile and web platforms.
- Strong fundamentals in software engineering and system architecture.
- Experience in leading meaningful engineering or architectural transformations.
- Ability to influence technical direction beyond individual contributions.
- Pragmatic approach to modernizing legacy systems.
- Hands-on experience with AI development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor.
- Demonstrated understanding of how AI impacts software delivery and development workflows.
- Ability to effectively engage with and challenge senior stakeholders.
