Data Scientist

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join an innovative industrial AI and IoT software organisation on a 6-month contract. This role involves developing intelligence solutions for a safety-critical operational platform in the energy sector, collaborating closely with technical teams and stakeholders to provide measurable operational value through data science and machine learning. You will play a key role in enhancing how organizations leverage operational data to improve efficiency and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Develop rule engines that automate workflows and identify unexpected changes in operational data.
  • Build machine learning, optimisation and AI-driven planning solutions for complex scenarios.
  • Design intelligent alerting and notification models to enhance operational visibility.
  • Create data-driven applications and dashboards for frontline operational teams.
  • Develop digital forms and workflow tools to streamline processes.
  • Implement historical and forward-looking planning capabilities using operational data.
  • Run workshops and engage with stakeholders to understand business challenges.
  • Rapidly develop prototypes and proof-of-concepts demonstrating business value.

Requirements

  • Strong Python development skills with production deployment experience in analytics or machine learning.
  • Hands-on experience in machine learning, statistical modelling, optimisation or decision science.
  • Experience in building dashboards or user-facing analytical solutions using tools such as Power BI or Grafana.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills.
  • Solid SQL skills for data exploration and transformation.
  • Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Data Science or Mathematics.
  • Experience with graph databases or industrial AI is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Generative AI, TypeScript and React is a plus.
