Overview
This contract role for a Senior/Lead Data Scientist involves driving significant business impact through the development and deployment of production-grade machine learning models. The contractor will collaborate with a major UK digital business undergoing a Data & AI transformation, ensuring that solutions meet commercial objectives. This position is hands-on and emphasizes application in real-world scenarios rather than purely theoretical research.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy production-grade machine learning models that solve commercial problems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business challenges and translate them into data-driven solutions.
- Conduct churn prediction modelling and customer segmentation analyses.
- Implement recommendation systems and time series forecasting solutions.
- Utilize Python and Databricks to manage end-to-end ML pipelines.
- Ensure robust MLOps practices are followed in model deployment and maintenance.
- Bridge technical delivery with business impact to drive measurable results.
Requirements
- Proven experience building and deploying machine learning models in a production environment.
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience with Databricks.
- Hands-on experience with MLflow, CI-CD, and modern machine learning pipelines.
- Familiarity with churn prediction modelling and customer segmentation techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced commercial environment.
