Overview
The Principal Risk Engineer will play a key role in leading the Risk Technology function for a global commodities trading company. This senior technology leadership position focuses on enhancing the firm's risk technology landscape to evolve towards a more automated, scalable, and real-time risk platform, while collaborating closely with various stakeholders across technology, trading, and risk teams.
Responsibilities
- Own the delivery and evolution of critical CTRM and risk technology capabilities.
- Lead the onboarding, integration, and implementation of new CTRMs and related platforms.
- Provide senior technical leadership across risk technology initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with trading, risk, technology, and business stakeholders.
- Drive improvements across platform scalability, automation, reliability, and performance.
- Contribute to the transition towards real-time risk and next-generation risk technology.
- Help define the technology roadmap linking existing CTRM capabilities with future-state platforms.
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex technical and operational issues.
Requirements
- Significant experience within commodities trading, financial markets, CTRM or risk technology.
- Strong understanding of trading workflows, trade lifecycle, and market risk.
- Proven experience implementing, integrating, or onboarding complex CTRM or risk platforms.
- Strong technical background with experience in Python, APIs, databases, data platforms, and distributed systems.
- Experience leading, mentoring, or managing technical teams.
- Ability to engage effectively with both technical teams and senior stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of scalable, high-performance technology environments.
- Exposure to real-time risk, cloud-native architecture, or high-performance data processing is beneficial.
