Overview
We are looking for an experienced DB2 Database Administrator to join our specialist technical delivery team on a fully remote contract basis. In this role, you will focus on providing hands-on administration and technical support for a mainframe DB2 database, investigating incidents, and resolving technical queries related to customer data. You will collaborate closely with technical teams to ensure smooth operations within the mainframe environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on DB2 database administration and technical support within a mainframe environment.
- Access and analyse customer data held within DB2 tables to support incident investigations and technical queries.
- Investigate database-related incidents, identifying potential causes and supporting resolution.
- Analyse DB2 data and provide technical findings to support wider project activities.
- Support database performance monitoring, troubleshooting and problem resolution.
- Work with technical teams to investigate and resolve issues across the mainframe environment.
- Ensure database activities are carried out in accordance with established procedures and security requirements.
- Produce clear technical findings and documentation where required.
Requirements
- Strong experience working as a DB2 Database Administrator in an IBM mainframe environment.
- Good knowledge of DB2 for z/OS.
- Experience accessing, querying and analysing data held within DB2 tables.
- Proven experience investigating database-related incidents and technical issues.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently in a hands-on technical capacity.
- Must hold UK Security Check (SC) clearance.
- Experience supporting large-scale or complex mainframe environments is desirable.
