Overview
We are looking for a skilled SQL Database Administrator to join a hybrid team, contributing to a leading financial services organization. The contractor will manage and optimize enterprise SQL database environments, collaborating closely with infrastructure, architecture, engineering, and development teams, ensuring the performance, security, and availability of critical systems within the sector.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, manage, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Manage database backups, recovery, security, patching, and monitoring.
- Undertake performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planning.
- Ensure database resilience, availability, and scalability.
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot complex database issues.
- Support SQL cloud technologies and infrastructure improvements.
- Contribute to technical design, new implementations, and continuous improvement projects.
- Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience as a SQL Database Administrator within an enterprise environment.
- Extensive Microsoft SQL Server administration experience.
- Knowledge of database performance, security, backup, and recovery.
- Experience with enterprise infrastructure, monitoring, and alerting tools.
- Understanding of cloud-based SQL technologies.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum and DevOps environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and stakeholder management skills.
- Previous experience within insurance or financial services is essential.
