Overview
We are seeking an experienced DevOps / Cloud Engineer with a strong AWS focus to join our team for a 9+ month remote contract. The role centers on modernizing our cloud infrastructure by migrating from a ClickOps approach to a fully automated Infrastructure as Code (IaC) setup using AWS CDK and CloudFormation. The engineer will collaborate closely with our development team to ensure seamless integration while enhancing security, scalability, and maintainability of the environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive audits of the existing AWS environment, including networking configurations and security policies.
- Design and implement a migration strategy to transition from ClickOps to Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK and CloudFormation.
- Automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources to increase reliability and reduce manual intervention.
- Enhance security posture by reviewing access controls and compliance measures during the migration process.
- Coordinate with the development team to maintain high availability and performance of live services during infrastructure changes.
- Develop detailed documentation for the new infrastructure setup, including deployment procedures and security configurations.
- Provide ongoing support to the in-house team for the maintenance of the cloud environment post-migration.
- Stay informed about the latest AWS features and best practices to continuously improve the infrastructure.
Requirements
- Proven hands-on experience with AWS CDK and CloudFormation, focusing on scripting and automation.
- Strong foundational knowledge of AWS services, including networking, IAM, and security best practices.
- Experience migrating manually-configured cloud environments to Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Solid understanding of cloud security principles and robust security policy implementation.
- Experience working collaboratively within a development team, especially with .NET Core / C# stacks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills for effective cloud environment auditing and optimization.
- Strong documentation skills for maintainable and comprehensible infrastructure setups.
