Embedded Software Contractor

Overview

As an Embedded Software Contractor specializing in Linux, you will be integral to a team focused on the development of embedded Linux firmware for target hardware platforms. Collaborating closely with engineers, you will help advance device driver development and ensure compatibility and integration of firmware within existing software systems, contributing to an innovative project set to run until July 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Develop embedded Linux firmware for OMAP and iMX6 hardware platforms.
  • Implement software for platform bring-up and peripheral integration, including interfaces like UART, SPI, and PCIe.
  • Integrate firmware into the existing system architecture, ensuring compatibility with other software components.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues related to firmware and hardware interaction.
  • Produce supporting artefacts such as design documentation, test specifications, and release notes.
  • Deliver updated or new software modules integrated into the firmware platform.
  • Provide evidence of testing and validation outcomes, including unit and system-level testing.
  • Prepare issue investigation reports with resolutions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in embedded Linux software development.
  • Strong knowledge of kernel configuration and Board Support Package (BSP) updates.
  • Experience with device driver development and peripheral integration.
  • Familiarity with hardware interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, and PCIe.
  • Ability to create design documentation and test specifications.
  • Experience in troubleshooting firmware and hardware interaction issues.
  • Eligible for BPSS check.
