Overview
The Senior OAT Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software and infrastructure through Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT). Working with a diverse team, the contractor will collaborate across various environments to enhance product quality and operational resilience, while also supporting system readiness for production. This is a contract role requiring regular travel across locations in the UK, with a strong focus on network infrastructure and cloud-based environments.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT) for software and systems.
- Collaborate with teams to conduct testing across networks and infrastructure environments.
- Test physical infrastructure and hardware, including installation and validation.
- Conduct resilience and recovery testing, including backup and disaster recovery processes.
- Evaluate system deployments, migrations, and upgrades, focusing on cloud migration activities.
- Monitor and analyze system performance, identifying issues and improving quality.
- Ensure compliance with security principles in testing infrastructure and network environments.
- Support systems through to production readiness and manage operational risks effectively.
Requirements
- Commercial experience in Quality Assurance and testing, particularly in network and infrastructure environments.
- Proficiency in testing physical infrastructure and hardware, with a focus on installation and configuration.
- Experience with resilience and recovery testing, including disaster recovery practices.
- Familiarity with cloud migration activities, particularly in AWS environments.
- Deep knowledge of network infrastructure, including routers and access points.
- Experience working with Linux systems and virtualized environments.
- Ability to conduct system monitoring, alerting, and auditing to identify root causes.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure quality, reliability, and risk management in complex environments.
