Overview
The Embedded Software Contractor will play a critical role in developing embedded Linux firmware for targeted hardware platforms, focusing on building a strong device drivers development team. This contract position involves collaboration with a well-equipped team in an innovative research and development environment, aiming to deliver solutions by July 2027. The contractor will work closely with other engineers to ensure the successful integration of firmware and resolve technical issues related to hardware and software interactions.
Responsibilities
- Develop embedded Linux firmware for target hardware platforms, including kernel configuration and device driver enablement.
- Implement software to support platform bring-up and peripheral integration (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C, PCIe).
- Integrate firmware into the wider system to ensure compatibility with existing software components.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues related to firmware, focusing on hardware/software interaction faults.
- Produce supporting documentation, including design documents, test specifications, and release notes.
- Deliver embedded Linux firmware components such as kernel, BSP, and drivers.
- Create updated or new software modules integrated into the platform.
- Provide evidence of testing and validation, including unit, integration, and system-level testing.
Requirements
- Proven experience in embedded Linux development.
- Strong knowledge of device driver development.
- Familiarity with hardware platforms such as OMAP and iMX6.
- Experience with kernel configuration and Board Support Package (BSP) updates.
- Ability to integrate firmware with existing software components.
- Proficiency in hardware communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, PCIe).
- Eligible for BPSS checks.
- Experience with documentation of design and testing processes.
