Overview
We are seeking an Embedded Software Contractor with experience in Linux to join a dynamic team aimed at developing device drivers for various hardware platforms, including OMAP and iMX6. The contractor will work collaboratively on an exciting long-term project, contributing to the embedded software development process, and will have the opportunity to transition into a permanent role if desired.
Responsibilities
- Develop embedded Linux firmware for target hardware platforms, including kernel configuration and BSP updates.
- Implement software to support platform bring-up and peripheral integration (e.g. UART, SPI, I2C, PCIe).
- Integrate firmware into the wider system, ensuring compatibility with existing software components.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues relating to firmware and hardware/software interaction faults.
- Produce supporting documentation including design documents, test specifications, and release notes.
- Deliver embedded Linux firmware components (kernel, BSP, drivers) as required.
- Create updated or new software modules integrated into the platform.
- Provide evidence of testing and validation activities at various levels (unit, integration, system).
Requirements
- Proven experience in developing embedded Linux firmware.
- Strong knowledge of kernel configuration and BSP updates.
- Familiarity with hardware peripherals and their integration (UART, SPI, I2C, PCIe).
- Experience with issue investigation and resolution in firmware and hardware interactions.
- Ability to produce clear design documentation and test specifications.
- Eligibility for a BPSS check is mandatory.
- Prior experience working in an embedded systems environment is preferred.
