Overview
We are seeking an Embedded Software Contractor specializing in Embedded Linux to join a new device driver development team for a large project scheduled to run until July 2027. The role involves developing embedded Linux firmware for target hardware platforms and integration into existing systems. The contractor will collaborate within a team-focused environment that emphasizes innovation and advanced research and development, with options for a temporary to permanent placement thereafter.
Responsibilities
- Develop embedded Linux firmware for various hardware platforms, including kernel configuration and BSP updates.
- Implement software necessary for platform bring-up and peripheral integration such as UART, SPI, and I2C.
- Integrate firmware into existing systems, ensuring compatibility with current software components.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues related to firmware and hardware/software interactions.
- Produce design documentation, test specifications, and release notes as supporting artifacts.
- Deliver embedded Linux firmware components, including updates and new modules.
- Provide evidence of testing and validation across various levels, along with issue investigation reports.
Requirements
- Proven experience in embedded software development, specifically with Embedded Linux.
- Familiarity with hardware platforms such as OMAP and iMX6.
- Strong knowledge of kernel configuration, BSP updates, and device driver development.
- Experience with communication protocols including UART, SPI, I2C, and PCIe.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical firmware issues effectively.
- Capability to produce comprehensive design and test documentation.
- Eligibility for a BPSS check.
