Overview
The Embedded Software Contractor will join a team focused on developing embedded Linux firmware for various hardware platforms, including OMAP and iMX6. This long-term contract role involves collaborating with engineers to build device drivers and integrate software components while resolving technical issues in firmware development. The contractor will contribute to a vibrant R&D environment and has the potential for a temporary to permanent position at the contract's conclusion.
Responsibilities
- Develop embedded Linux firmware for target hardware platforms, including kernel configuration and BSP updates.
- Implement software for platform bring-up and peripheral integration, such as UART, SPI, I2C, and PCIe.
- Integrate firmware into existing systems, ensuring compatibility with software components.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues related to firmware and hardware/software interactions.
- Produce supporting documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and release notes.
- Deliver embedded Linux firmware components and related software modules integrated into the platform.
- Provide evidence of testing and validation activities, including unit and system-level tests.
- Create issue investigation reports and document resolution outcomes.
Requirements
- Experience in embedded Linux firmware development.
- Proficiency with device drivers and BSP updates for hardware platforms.
- Familiarity with software integration for peripherals, such as UART, SPI, and I2C.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve firmware-related technical issues.
- Experience producing technical documentation, including test specifications.
- Candidates must be eligible for a BPSS check.
- Available to start before the end of September.
