Overview
We are seeking an Embedded Software Contractor to join a team focused on developing embedded Linux firmware for hardware platforms such as OMAP and iMX6. The contractor will work collaboratively on a critical project with a deadline in July 2027, contributing to the development of device drivers and ensuring compatibility with existing software components. This role offers the opportunity to engage in exciting R&D work within a vibrant team culture.
Responsibilities
- Develop embedded Linux firmware for target hardware platforms including kernel configuration and BSP updates.
- Implement software to support platform bring-up and peripheral integration like UART, SPI, I2C, and PCIe.
- Integrate firmware into the wider system ensuring compatibility with existing software components.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues related to firmware and hardware/software interactions.
- Produce supporting artefacts such as design documentation, test specifications, and release notes.
- Deliver embedded Linux firmware components including kernel, BSP, and drivers.
- Provide evidence of testing and validation, including unit, integration, and system level as appropriate.
- Prepare issue investigation reports detailing resolutions.
Requirements
- Proficient in embedded Linux development, specifically for OMAP and iMX6 platforms.
- Experience with kernel configuration and board support package (BSP) updates.
- Knowledge of device driver development and peripheral integration (UART, SPI, I2C, PCIe).
- Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware/software interaction issues.
- Ability to produce comprehensive design and test documentation.
- Familiarity with testing and validation practices in embedded systems.
- Candidates must be eligible for a BPSS check.
