Overview

The Head of Data Engineering will spearhead the data engineering function, implementing strategy and architecture for a Microsoft Fabric-led data environment. This leadership role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to enhance data integration, governance, and operational excellence while overseeing the adoption of modern data architectures and engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Data Engineering function and define the enterprise data engineering strategy.
  • Provide senior technical leadership in technologies including Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, and Spark Notebooks.
  • Design and oversee modern cloud-first data architectures with a focus on Delta Lake and medallion patterns.
  • Lead the integration strategy across key enterprise platforms such as Salesforce, Workday, and Dynamics 365.
  • Develop and manage a multidisciplinary engineering team, ensuring adherence to strong engineering standards.
  • Oversee data governance and security measures, ensuring compliance and data quality.
  • Establish CI/CD and automated deployment practices while optimising performance and cost in the data estate.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in data engineering leadership, particularly with Microsoft Fabric.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud-first data architectures and data migration strategies for legacy platforms.
  • Expertise in enterprise data integration across platforms such as Salesforce and Workday.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Experience implementing data governance and security frameworks.
  • Strong background in DevOps practices including CI/CD and infrastructure as code.
  • Skill in optimising data performance and managing data costs.
