Overview
This role seeks a Senior Quality Assurance Automation Engineer who will be integral in enhancing the quality and security of the software delivery lifecycle. Collaborating closely with software developers, DevSecOps engineers, and QA specialists, the contractor will design and maintain automated testing processes embedded in CI/CD pipelines. This hands-on position is ideal for a skilled professional seeking to influence quality assurance from the outset of development.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain automated unit, API, integration, functional and end-to-end test suites.
- Develop reusable and scalable test automation frameworks and libraries.
- Test microservices and containerised applications using Python 3.13+.
- Embed automated testing directly into GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
- Build automated regression, performance and load testing suites.
- Translate user stories and acceptance criteria into comprehensive automated test coverage.
- Monitor pipeline results, troubleshoot failures and assist teams in quick resolutions.
- Champion a test-automation-first engineering culture.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Automation Test Engineer, SDET, QA Automation Engineer, or similar role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python, particularly in testing contexts.
- Deep understanding of testing microservices and containerised applications.
- Proficient with Docker and relevant automation frameworks like PyTest, Playwright, and Selenium.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI/CD or Jenkins.
- Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills.
- Familiarity with software design principles, OOP, and tools like Git and Jira.
- Desirable experience with Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, or Terraform is a plus.
