Overview

This role involves contributing to the development of embedded Linux firmware and device drivers for various target hardware platforms. The contractor will join a dedicated team working on a significant project with a deadline of July 2027, collaborating closely with other professionals to ensure system compatibility and resolve technical issues. This position offers the possibility of a temp-to-perm arrangement within a supportive and dynamic work culture, as well as ongoing exciting R&D initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop embedded Linux firmware for target hardware platforms, including kernel configuration and BSP updates.
  • Implement software to support platform bring-up and integrate peripherals like UART, SPI, I2C, and PCIe.
  • Integrate firmware with the existing systems, ensuring compatibility with current software components.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues related to firmware, focusing on hardware/software interaction faults.
  • Produce supporting artefacts such as design documentation, test specifications, and release notes.
  • Deliver embedded Linux firmware components, including updated software modules and documentation.
  • Provide evidence of testing and validation at various levels, including unit and system level.
  • Create issue investigation reports outlining resolutions and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Experience with embedded Linux firmware development, specifically for devices such as OMAP and iMX6.
  • Proficiency in kernel configuration and Board Support Package (BSP) updates.
  • Familiarity with peripheral integration including UART, SPI, I2C, and PCIe.
  • Ability to produce comprehensive design documentation and test specifications.
  • Demonstrated capability in testing and validating embedded systems.
  • Eligible for BPSS check prior to starting.
