ERP Project Accountant

Overview

The ERP Project Accountant will play a pivotal role in the successful implementation of Microsoft Business Central within a Nottinghamshire-based manufacturing business. The contractor will work closely with the Finance Director and Head of Manufacturing to ensure a smooth transition by focusing on finance-related processes and data structures. This position is ideal for a qualified accountant who has experience in ERP implementations and a thorough understanding of finance and manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of Microsoft Business Central for finance processes.
  • Ensure finance master data, including supplier and customer codes, is accurately set up.
  • Oversee VAT configuration and related financial processes.
  • Manage trial balance data mapping, migration, and reconciliation.
  • Develop and implement the chart of accounts and financial reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate manufacturing costing and accounting processes.
  • Identify gaps, discrepancies, and areas for process improvement.
  • Provide user support and training during implementation and adoption of the new system.

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with ERP implementation experience.
  • Strong understanding of finance functions, processes, and accounting principles.
  • Experience with Microsoft Business Central or Dynamics NAV is beneficial.
  • Previous involvement in finance transformation or systems projects.
  • Manufacturing experience, especially in costing, inventory, BOMs, and production processes, is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with a hands-on approach to finance data and structures.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both finance and operational teams.
  • Experience in user acceptance testing (UAT) and process reconciliation is an asset.
