Overview
We are seeking an experienced Head of Infrastructure for a six-month contract role within a UK challenger bank. This position requires a hands-on leader who can establish direction while being actively involved in delivery. The successful candidate will oversee the bank's infrastructure, including networks, cloud services, desktop environments, and Microsoft 365, working closely with senior technology leaders.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the bank’s infrastructure function.
- Take hands-on ownership of critical infrastructure priorities and issues.
- Manage network, cloud, desktop and Microsoft 365 services.
- Provide strong oversight of third-party technology partners.
- Hold vendors accountable for delivery, service quality and commercial performance.
- Ensure infrastructure services are secure, resilient, and compliant with banking regulations.
- Collaborate closely with the CTO and wider technology leadership team.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an infrastructure leader with strong technical depth.
- Broad experience across networks, cloud platforms, desktop services, and Microsoft 365.
- Pragmatic, delivery-focused approach with a willingness to engage at all levels.
- Strong vendor and outsourced service management experience.
- Experience in banking, financial services, or a similar regulated environment.
- Ability to operate at leadership level while maintaining a hands-on approach.
- A minimum of ten years of experience in the banking sector, with recent experience required.
