Overview
This role involves serving as an Independent Member of the Stakeholder Advisory Forum (SAF) within the Retail Energy Code (REC) framework. The successful candidate will provide impartial advice and assessments on code modification proposals while collaborating with fellow forum members to ensure that a broad range of stakeholder perspectives are considered in governance decisions. This position offers the chance to impact the future of the energy market through strategic guidance and evidence-based recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Review meeting papers and supporting evidence to prepare for discussions.
- Contribute independent, objective, and evidence-based views during forum discussions.
- Assess modification proposals against code objectives and strategic factors.
- Challenge the Code Manager's decisions constructively when necessary.
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages diverse stakeholder engagement.
- Attend monthly meetings and actively participate in discussions and voting.
- Support continuous improvement efforts in SAF governance and processes.
- Chair meetings in the absence of the Independent Chair, if requested.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to exercise impartial judgement in governance or regulatory settings.
- Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating complex information from multiple perspectives.
- Proven experience interacting with senior stakeholders and maintaining collaborative relationships.
- Knowledge of regulatory environments, particularly regarding the energy sector.
- Ability to manage conflicts of interest and demonstrate independence from the Code Manager and REC Code Parties.
- Experience in areas like non-domestic energy markets or digital transformation is advantageous.
- Commitment to transparency and evidence-based decision-making in the governance process.
- Willingness to engage with a diverse range of stakeholder viewpoints.
