Overview
The Interim Director of Technical Transformation will play a critical role in leading the technical direction of a UK media business undergoing significant change. Reporting to the CTO and CPO, the contractor will partner with engineering teams to guide architectural decisions and support their transition into new engineering disciplines. This hands-on position requires a visible leader who can foster collaboration and provide mentorship while ensuring adherence to engineering standards throughout the transformation process.
Responsibilities
- Own technical direction and decision-making across the transformation, focusing on architecture and governance.
- Lead end-state and transitional architecture for live projects.
- Provide interim architectural leadership and support to the client's architects during the transition period.
- Set and uphold engineering standards, facilitating retraining of teams towards Agentic and Design Engineering.
- Establish and implement agentic and design engineering practices including spec-driven delivery and production readiness.
- Address skills gaps in AI identity and access management and support the productionizing of LLM-powered applications.
Requirements
- Senior technical leadership experience with hands-on architecture credibility.
- Proven ability to develop end-state and transitional architecture for live, operational platforms.
- Hands-on experience in building agentic engineering practices from the ground up.
- Experience leading engineering teams through skills and role changes.
- Strong history of providing technical leadership during organizational change.
- Demonstrated ability to ensure clean handovers and effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
