Overview
The Interim Project Accountant will join a dynamic finance team on a vital remediation and stabilization project, working in a hybrid capacity with a focus on both in-office and remote collaboration. This role is tailored for an experienced accountant who excels in a fast-paced environment, with responsibilities that include managing financial statements, reconciliations, and process improvements while ensuring a sustainable finance function for future team members.
Responsibilities
- Review and reconcile financial statements across multiple entities.
- Support statutory and year-end reporting processes, collaborating closely with auditors.
- Prepare, review, and maintain detailed balance sheet reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve historic unreconciled balances and discrepancies.
- Rebuild and maintain cashbook and bank reconciliation processes.
- Identify and address issues across the wider ledger, including missing and misallocated transactions.
- Perform intercompany reconciliations and investigate mismatches.
- Produce clear, audit-ready documentation for handover to the permanent team.
Requirements
- Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or equivalent experience (QBE).
- Strong technical accounting fundamentals with a solid understanding of double-entry.
- Extensive experience in reconciliations, financial accounting, and month-end processes.
- Proficiency in Excel and managing large data sets.
- Previous experience in remediation, transformation, or restructuring environments.
- Strong attention to detail and issue resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Experience producing audit-ready documentation and communicating with auditors.
