Overview
We are looking for an experienced Network Architect (Data Centre) to join a UK defence programme on a hybrid contract basis. This role focuses on evaluating and improving a live multi-site data centre network, primarily involving Cisco ACI and various supporting technologies. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with technical teams to produce comprehensive design documentation and ensure the architecture meets operational requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assess the existing network estate across two data centres, including Cisco ACI fabric, routing, firewalling, and load balancing.
- Review and validate existing and legacy network documentation against the live environment.
- Produce high-quality High Level Design (HLD) and Low Level Design (LLD) documentation.
- Identify low-risk network improvement opportunities and develop a structured improvement roadmap.
- Assess the current implementation of the Cisco ACI application-centric policy model and recommend improvements.
- Review the existing Disaster Recovery capability and define requirements for active/active operations.
- Identify architectural constraints and additional requirements for network enhancements.
- Work closely with architecture and network teams during technical reviews and governance sessions.
Requirements
- Active UK SC Clearance is mandatory.
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco ACI in production environments.
- In-depth knowledge of the Cisco ACI policy model, including tenants and EPGs.
- Experience with Cisco routing, switching, ASA firewalls, and F5 BIG-IP load balancing.
- Proven track record in producing HLDs, LLDs, and technical assessment reports.
- Demonstrable network architecture and design experience across multiple data centres.
- Strong understanding of Disaster Recovery and active/active data centre architecture.
- Ability to work effectively on a hybrid basis and attend on-site meetings as required.
