Network Engineer

Overview

The Network Engineer will play a pivotal role in assessing, improving, and modernising multi-site network infrastructure over a 12-month contract. This hands-on position requires collaboration with local and central technology teams to identify weaknesses in the existing network and implement practical improvements while maintaining business operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in complex network environments, focusing on enhancing performance, reliability, and supportability.

Responsibilities

  • Assess existing LAN, WLAN, and WAN environments across multiple locations.
  • Review network architecture, configurations, connectivity, and resilience.
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, and supportability.
  • Support network redesigns and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Deploy and troubleshoot switching and wireless infrastructure.
  • Support firewall deployment, routing, and failover validation.
  • Map network traffic and dependencies within operational environments.
  • Produce clear network diagrams, configuration records, and implementation documentation.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in multi-site network environments.
  • Proficient in Cisco Meraki switching, wireless, and dashboard management.
  • Experience with Cisco Nexus and Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Familiarity with LAN/WLAN architecture and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and segmentation.
  • Experience with WAN connectivity and carrier migrations.
  • Ability to document networks and manage controlled changes.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or pharmaceutical environments is a plus.
