Azure & Applications Architect

Overview

The Azure & Applications Architect will be instrumental in the separation of Azure-hosted services and enterprise applications from the parent company's environment to establish a new standalone technology estate. This role involves collaboration with various teams and stakeholders, focusing on assessing existing systems and determining the best approach for applications during the separation process. Key activities will include application discovery, dependency mapping, and establishing a robust architecture for the new setup.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the existing Azure estate and define the standalone target architecture.
  • Review approximately 3–4 Azure subscriptions/environments.
  • Identify application dependencies on the parent organization.
  • Lead application discovery and dependency mapping.
  • Determine whether applications should be migrated, rebuilt, reconfigured, or replaced.
  • Define Azure subscription and resource structure for the standalone organization.
  • Produce architecture and migration documentation.
  • Provide technical support during migration and hypercare.

Requirements

  • Strong Azure architecture experience.
  • Experience with Azure subscriptions and resource management.
  • Proficient in Azure VMs, Logic Apps, and Azure DevOps.
  • Experienced in application architecture and migration.
  • Skilled in application dependency mapping and APIs/integration.
  • Familiarity with Entra ID/application authentication.
  • Experience establishing standalone cloud estates.
  • Business separation/divestiture/carve-out experience is desirable.
