Overview
We are looking for an experienced Obsolescence Engineer to join a leading engineering organization on a long-term contract. The role primarily involves managing obsolescence activities for complex engineering programs, ensuring that components, systems, and products remain supportable throughout their lifecycle. The engineer will collaborate closely with various engineering teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to facilitate decision-making and drive obsolescence management efforts.
Responsibilities
- Conduct customer notification activities and obsolescence reviews using established processes and tools.
- Perform Bill of Materials (BoM) reviews and ongoing obsolescence monitoring activities.
- Develop and maintain Selected Component Lists (SCLs) while obtaining relevant design authority approvals.
- Generate and maintain Obsolescence Management Plans (OMPs).
- Liaise with external suppliers to obtain current component and product obsolescence status.
- Support the Obsolescence Lead in delivering activities according to program schedules.
- Build effective relationships with Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) to achieve project objectives.
- Participate in and lead regular Obsolescence Review Boards to ensure timely closure of actions and risks.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline.
- Experience in engineering, manufacturing, or product lifecycle environments.
- Understanding of obsolescence management principles and processes.
- Ability to interpret electronic component datasheets and technical specifications.
- Experience conducting BoM analysis and component lifecycle assessments.
- Strong organizational skills with effective workload management abilities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
