Overview
We are seeking an experienced Packet Core Engineer to join a leading telecommunications organisation on a contract basis. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the design, delivery, and lifecycle management of next-generation Packet Core services, with a focus on enhancing the performance and resilience of mobile core platforms that support advanced technologies like 4G and 5G. You will work collaboratively with various teams and stakeholders to ensure that solutions meet both business requirements and high standards of network performance.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage Packet Core platforms to ensure highly available, secure, and scalable network services.
- Lead the delivery and integration of Packet Core solutions, supporting network transformation initiatives such as migration from EPC to 5G Core.
- Collaborate with Architecture, Operations, Strategy, and Delivery teams to meet business requirements and regulatory compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement through automation and performance monitoring, addressing complex network issues for long-term resolution.
- Manage relationships with technology vendors and key stakeholders to support roaming and enterprise connectivity initiatives.
Requirements
- Strong experience with Packet Core technologies such as MME, AMF, SGSN, GGSN, SGW, PGW, UPF, and related gateway technologies.
- In-depth understanding of 3G, LTE, EPC, and 5G Standalone (5G SA) architectures, including mobility management and data plane optimisation.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native networking, NFV, Kubernetes, and automation tools including Ansible.
- Proven track record in large-scale telecom transformation programmes, particularly in EPC to 5G Core migration.
