Overview
The Product Design Engineer will work in a fast-paced design consultancy in West London, focusing on transforming established design concepts into manufacturable components for various products, including medical, healthcare, and consumer devices. This role requires expertise in both industrial design and mechanical engineering, emphasizing collaboration with an experienced design and engineering team to deliver high-quality parts ready for tooling.
Responsibilities
- Translate established design intents into manufacturable parts.
- Master model in SOLIDWORKS to create a robust CAD database.
- Engineer plastic housings and casework through to tooling drawings.
- Ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) principles are applied throughout the engineering process.
- Develop handheld components such as buttons and joysticks, focusing on user experience.
- Integrate standalone subsystems into comprehensive systems, addressing practical challenges as they arise.
- Deliver projects independently while collaborating with the design and engineering team.
- Maintain weekly timesheets and adhere to project timelines.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Product Design Engineer or Design Engineer.
- Strong proficiency in SOLIDWORKS, with expertise in master modelling.
- Demonstrable experience in engineering plastic housings to tooling drawings.
- Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.
- Ability to work on-site five days a week in West London.
- Experience managing design projects and taking ownership of deliverables.
- Available to start within two weeks of offer.
