Overview
The Process Design Engineer will support the Lead Process Engineer in designing and implementing mechanical solutions for a hydrometallurgical lithium-ion battery recycling project. This office-based role requires collaboration with various teams and stakeholders, ensuring the project meets its operational and technical goals while addressing any challenges that arise during the design and installation phases.
Responsibilities
- Assist with process plant layouts and equipment arrangements.
- Produce and maintain 2D and 3D CAD models of process equipment.
- Translate process requirements into practical mechanical designs.
- Prepare equipment datasheets and technical specifications.
- Review supplier quotations and technical submissions.
- Coordinate interfaces between mechanical equipment and systems.
- Monitor supplier progress and manage drawing approvals.
- Support equipment inspections and site acceptance testing.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical or process plant design.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, particularly Solidworks.
- Experience in producing general arrangements and manufacturing drawings.
- Strong understanding of process and operational requirements in engineering.
- Ability to manage multiple work packages concurrently.
- Familiarity with relevant UK standards and safety regulations.
- Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience in engineering disciplines.
