Overview
The Concept & Vehicle Packaging Engineer will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality 3D models and establishing vehicle architecture by defining hardpoints and optimizing the integration of various components. This role will involve both early-phase concept development and detailed engineering, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure ergonomic and regulatory standards are met. The position is ideal for a contractor looking to bring innovative solutions to vehicle design for a duration of three months.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain robust 3D CAD models and assemblies for vehicle systems.
- Define spatial layouts for powertrain, chassis, interior, electrical, and thermal systems.
- Establish and manage the master hardpoint database for the vehicle.
- Ensure ergonomic comfort, visibility, ingress/egress, and compliance with human-factors requirements.
- Lead digital mock-up reviews to validate clearances, interfaces, and serviceability.
- Resolve packaging conflicts across body, chassis, powertrain, interior, and electrical teams.
- Manage CAD updates, version control, and release workflows in PLM systems.
Requirements
- Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6.
- Experience with vehicle packaging, ergonomics, and system integration.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, engineering standards, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with PLM systems (Teamcenter, 3DX).
- Ability to translate engineering requirements into robust CAD and packaging solutions.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience in EV packaging (battery, e-drive, HV systems, thermal management) is preferred.
- Background in body engineering and integration is a plus.
