Overview
We are seeking a Product Engineer with a strong backend focus to join an innovative technology company specializing in the energy trading sector. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing advanced billing, pricing, and commercial platforms while collaborating with a skilled engineering team to solve complex challenges. Your expertise in Python and understanding of transactional systems will directly influence the technical direction of the product.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain backend services using Python.
- Build scalable functionality for billing, pricing, and commercial platforms.
- Develop APIs and workflows for processing high volumes of transactional data.
- Model complex business rules and financial calculations.
- Collaborate with product teams to design solutions from first principles.
- Contribute across the technology stack, including TypeScript when appropriate.
- Enhance reliability, scalability, and engineering standards as the platform evolves.
Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience.
- Strong production-grade Python skills.
- Experience developing billing, settlement, pricing, or payments platforms.
- Familiarity with the energy sector or financial trading is highly desirable.
- Comfortable working with data-heavy systems and complex business logic.
- Strong product mindset with a high level of ownership.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in startup or scale-up environments is advantageous.
