Risk Developer

Overview

We are looking for a Risk Developer specializing in Python to join the team at a commodities trading firm investing in its pricing and risk technology. In this hybrid role, you will engage in the design and development of innovative risk platforms, working closely with traders and quantitative analysts to address complex engineering challenges. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the architecture and technical direction of a greenfield project aimed at enhancing pricing and risk analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop core pricing and risk engines using modern Python.
  • Design and implement scalable, distributed services for processing market data and risk calculations.
  • Enhance performance of pricing and risk analytics to support real-time capabilities.
  • Build cloud-native solutions utilizing AWS and distributed computing technologies like Ray.
  • Collaborate with front-office stakeholders to define business problems and deliver engineering solutions.
  • Shape the architecture and engineering standards of the platform.
  • Leverage AI development tools to improve productivity and engineering delivery.

Requirements

  • Proven commercial experience in Python development.
  • Background in building pricing, valuation, risk, or quantitative trading applications.
  • Familiarity with commodity markets, particularly Gas, Power, or Oil.
  • Experience with distributed or parallel computing technologies, preferably Ray.
  • Proficient in deploying applications in AWS environments.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including CI/CD and scalable system design.
  • Experience in developing high-performance backend systems capable of complex calculations.
  • Ability to take ownership of engineering challenges and propose innovative solutions.
