Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Artificial Intelligence Engineer to join a specialist AI consultancy delivering a large-scale AI transformation for a leading insurance organization. The role involves designing, building, and deploying production-ready AI solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs). Collaborating closely with both the consultancy and the client, the engineer will focus on developing AI agents and applications that enhance various business processes, streamline operations, and improve customer support. This position is hands-on and requires the delivery of scalable AI solutions that provide measurable business impact.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and deploy enterprise-grade AI applications using modern LLMs.
  • Develop AI agents to automate employee onboarding, enhancing speed and consistency.
  • Build internal AI assistants for quick access to policies and business knowledge.
  • Deliver AI-powered solutions to support claims handling, including document summarisation and intelligent case routing.
  • Develop underwriting support tools for documentation analysis and decision-making assistance.
  • Create customer service assistants to answer policy-related queries and support contact centre teams.
  • Implement Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions using enterprise knowledge bases and vector databases.
  • Ensure all AI solutions align with security, governance, and responsible AI best practices.

Requirements

  • Commercial experience building production AI applications using LLMs like Claude, OpenAI, or Gemini.
  • Strong experience in implementing Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with vector databases and semantic search technologies.
  • Experience in building AI agents and multi-step workflows using frameworks such as LangGraph or OpenAI SDK.
  • Strong Python development skills with experience in building production APIs and backend services.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Good understanding of cloud-native architectures and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong SQL and data manipulation skills.
