Overview
The Senior Android Developer will join a mobile platform team dedicated to developing and maintaining a UK government application. This role involves enhancing critical components of the Android app and ensuring secure coding practices are followed. The contractor will collaborate closely with other teams to integrate features and ensure successful app releases, with the work largely conducted remotely and minimal in-person meetings in London.
Responsibilities
- Build and improve common components of the Android app in Kotlin.
- Lead the technical design of new features and integrations.
- Apply secure coding practices using OWASP MASVS guidelines.
- Write and maintain automated tests within the CI/CD pipeline.
- Conduct code reviews and engage in pair programming to uphold code quality.
- Ensure app releases comply with Play Store submission guidelines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues post-release to maintain app performance.
Requirements
- Extensive commercial experience in native Android development using Kotlin.
- Proven track record of shipping apps to the Play Store and familiarity with Android UI guidelines.
- Understanding of common mobile security risks and proficiency in OWASP MASVS.
- Experience with test-driven development (TDD) and continuous integration practices.
- Familiarity with code review processes and version control systems.
- Ability to guide and support less experienced engineers.
- Eligibility for SC clearance, with preference for candidates who already hold it.
