Overview
The Senior Android Developer will join a mobile platform team focused on developing and enhancing a UK government app. This role involves building common functionalities, integrating features, and ensuring adherence to security standards, while working largely remotely with occasional in-person meetings in London. The developer will leverage their expertise to improve app performance and security in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Build and improve common components of the Android app using Kotlin.
- Lead technical design efforts for app features and integrations.
- Apply secure coding practices guided by OWASP MASVS.
- Write and maintain automated tests for the CI/CD pipeline.
- Conduct code reviews and engage in pair programming to enhance code quality.
- Ensure compliance with Play Store review and submission guidelines.
- Monitor app performance post-release and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Requirements
- Extensive commercial experience in native Android development with Kotlin.
- Proven experience in shipping apps to the Play Store.
- Strong understanding of Android UI guidelines and mobile security risks.
- Familiarity with OWASP MASVS and secure coding practices.
- Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and continuous integration.
- Ability to guide and mentor less experienced engineers.
- Experience in regulated environments such as government or banking is a bonus.
- Eligibility for SC clearance, with continuous UK residency for the last 5 years.
